Update on access and paving around HM

Here's an update on three access/paving/stairs/lifts issues around the building.

1. Lift to the light rail

Lift access to the light rail remains closed, and it's not clear why. David from Ceerose told us everything is finished as far as they are concerned, they have done what the Council requested. But Council wrote this letter to us a few days ago:

"Reference is made to your query in relation to the lift at 280 Jones Street, Pyrmont.

I have spoken with Council’s Public Domain department and they have indicated that they are awaiting information from the developer to ensure that the lift, and access to the light rail system is safe prior to it being used.

In this regard Council is unable to advise when the lift will be open to the public, it is envisaged to be early next year however. If you require an update with the lift in the new year please contact Council’s Public Domain section."

This needs ongoing follow up until someone takes responsibility for approving the lift, or we could be without access for a long time. Just do it!

2. Paving onto the Harris Street bridge to Darling Harbour

Better news here.

Anyone who has walked to Darling Harbour, past the park on Fig Lane and over the Harris Street bridge, will know what an eye-sore and uneven surface the bitumen/paving is.

Council has contracted the work to replace the bitumen with pavers, and we have spoken to the paving company. Work will begin as soon as they return to work in early January. It will make access a lot smoother and improve the appearance.

3. Completion of lift access into Darling Harbour without steps

Again, some better news. We've previously written about the annoying steps built by Lend Lease near the new lift in DH. In heated discussions with the person in charge of the DH project, he assures us that as soon as they return to work on 4 January, they will make this the first job, as long as it's is not raining. We'll be glad to see these steps gone.

Doesn't look like much but they're enough to prevent many people accessing the lift and DH.

Finally, does anyone feel the doors to the apartments are too difficult to open? We've gone online to check how the door closer works, but cannot make find a way to make opening easier.

Unfortunately, Novas is closed until the middle of January. Has anyone worked out how to make the adjustment?

  1. Man thanks for the update and happy new year :) what do you mean by the door being difficult to close? I'll have a look at mine when back home tonight and get back to you

  2. Hi Jono, not difficult to close, just overly firm to open. Needs a bit of a tug rather than a gentle open, and all the settings on the back suggest it should be adjustable. Not a major issue. G

    1. hi graham

i did a bit of dig on their company website and technical manuals.

I think the door control we have is basic model 1000 from NOVAS which does not come with power adjustment. see last page http://101.0.99.29/~novascom/media/pdf/novadc_1000.pdf

Only 1300 supports power adjustment by rotate captive screw A - see last page http://101.0.99.29/~novascom/media/pdf/novadc_1300.pdf

    2. Thanks, Nathan. I might need to replace it. I have been able to adjust it so it closes slower, but not opening easier.

  3. Happy New Year again, Elana and Graham and thank you for the update. Hopefully Lend Lease removes the steps on the way to Darling Harbour soon and the lift starts operating. Thank you for bringing Ceerose and Council on to the same page. Regarding the entry door - ours opens quite softly, no big effort needed. Perhaps, it has already been adjusted to the right firmness. So, your door should be easily adjusted too hopefully. I am not sure how to do it but I am sure one of the Ceerose guys on site should be able to have a look at it and advise. Elana, I will ask them if I see themnon site next week.

  4. We have one issue in our apartment, which I would like to share and ask if the current HM residents could please comment on:
Water pressure / water flow strength in the shower is rather weak. However, water flow from the bath tap is excellent (we have a shower over bath). Are you finding the same issue with your showers?
    Thanks All.

  5. Overall, water pressure is fine except the flush is weak for one of the toilets, and we have reported this to Ceerose.

  6. The main concern is the water flowing down the wall at the western corner of B2 parking area which after today's rain was a steady waterfall which then streamed along the bottom of the sandstone wall and spilled onto the parking area. We have sent an email to Ceerose and would appreciate if anyone receiving a response from Ceerose in the meantime (about this and other issues raised in previous blogs), can provide some feedback as to how matters will be attended to. Great work re the blog.

  9. DISH WASHER
and for those who found their dish washer is not connected - it actually connected through the kitchen storage cabinet on its right hand side where you will find a switch at the very back of it.

  10. Thanks Nathan. Our dryer works ok and we didn't have this issue. Trere is a user manual in the HM book - maybe there are some jnstructions on how to unblock it.

  11. You completed a few fine points there. I did a search on the subject and found nearly all persons will go along with with your blog. Read on Roads paving

  12. 3D Architectural Rendering: There is real complexity in accomplishing the exact design of a house in 3D visual before construction starts just with a 2D sketch map and i.e, where 3D architectural rendering process by an architect can fully utilize the available plot space more efficiently from a company such as Team Designs Australia.
