Path to light rail platform is installed

The public works to access the light rail has been a major piece of work, to be used by anyone coming from Pyrmont, not only the HM residents. The stairs are so large that, like the Great Wall of China, they can be seen from outer space.

The path itself is wide, amid the trees and shrubs, and neatly kerbed on each side. A good result.

This is the point where it connects to the light rail platform, so it's easy access. With the massive expansion of the light rail down George Street and to Randwick, this direct connection will be a major feature of HM.

And there continues to be work done on the stairs themselves, which connect with this path.

  1. Since the footpath it's so wide can be observed from outer space , I think we could use it for the driveway instead of the pain in the ass jones st

  2. Thanks Elana and Graham - looks like the light rail connection is progressing well. One thought that occured to me when looking at these pictures - there is currently no street lighting yet alobg the path and outside HM. The path, stairs and the outside area have to be lit up at night. This is probably in the plans, but will also take time to install and connect lamp posts etc. So... More work ahead :-(

  3. Hi Elena, when I was there I saw the electricity conduit laid for the path lights, you can see it in Elana's pictures too (orange tubing) . So the lghts shouldn't take long when they get to that part, they probably won't fit them till the path is finished just in case they get broken.

  4. Hi George, thanks for pointing this out - excellent! Good to know lighting is in the plans and hopefully won't add long to the timeframe. I am a bit concerned about safety when walking along the path to the station and down to Wentworth Park, given we are adjacent to the "abandoned" council depot site and they are no longer building a school there. I hope lighting will be good and once everyone moves into HM, there will be more activity going on in this area. What does everyone think re:safety?
